GCC ERP Data Center Migration to AWS

Government & Urban Administration

Project Overview

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) operates one of India's largest municipal administrative systems, managing taxation, public services, property management, public health, and other key civic functions. Their legacy ERP platform, hosted in an aging on-premises environment, struggled with increasing workloads, performance gaps, limited scalability, and high operational overhead.

To enhance reliability, improve service delivery, and adopt a future-ready technology stack, GCC initiated a modernization program to migrate the ERP ecosystem to AWS. The new architecture needed to support high user concurrency, secure inter-department access, centralized operational management, and continuous availability.

Ilios Digital was engaged to design, deploy, and operationalize a fully managed and secure AWS cloud environment for the GCC ERP system. The solution focused on building a fault-tolerant cloud architecture, ensuring seamless application access, improving system performance, and aligning with government-grade security standards.

Project Objectives

Limited scalability to support increasing users and expanding civic workloads

High operational overhead due to manual maintenance and system monitoring

No robust disaster recovery or high-availability mechanism

Security vulnerabilities compared to modern standards

Performance issues during peak operational hours

Outdated server architecture lacking modularity and elasticity

Inefficient backup mechanisms without automated validation

Solution Overview

Ilios Digital delivered a complete migration and modernization solution using the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) framework. The target architecture deployed on AWS followed a secured multi-tier, multi-account design with high availability, automated monitoring, and centralized operations.
